Whether creating AI systems to support disaster relief or mental wellness, I'm drawn to the intersection of empathy and innovation. With OpenMind, I programmed the NAO V6 humanoid robot—merging face recognition, natural language understanding, and therapeutic design to create an unprecedented emotional care companion. Witnessing it react in real-time to the emotions of users brought back to mind: the technology of the future remains human.

From presenting my cancer bioinformatics research in Málaga, Spain, as the youngest speaker at the 24th International Conference on Computational Science, I’ve learned that innovation transcends borders. In rooms filled with PhDs and pioneers, I found that the power of global exchange is in challenge, perspective, and curiosity that knows no passport.

In Hangzhou, China, as part of a select U.S.–China research fellowship, I worked on autonomous underwater vehicle vision systems at Westlake University. Beyond code, I learned to navigate new languages, customs, and lab dynamics. Whether refining swarm control algorithms or mastering Mahjong after hours, I discovered that true learning happens when you’re far outside your comfort zone—and all in.
